Plaisir D'amour (Pleasure of Love)

Written by Denis Toh (Date: Tuesday, 10th May 2005).

When the new season comes,

And the cold weather has gone.

You and I, hand in hand

Gather lilies in the woods.

Shaking free beneath our feet in the dewdrops,

Tasting the sweetness of beads of moisture,

The larks ascending and sing with great joy.

Spring has come, my beautiful one

It is the month of Valentine that lovers bless,

Oh, come then, to this mossy river bank

To discourse of our sweet romance

And renew the vows we love.

Then, entwining our fingers basket-like,

Secret garden we will go

Bringing our content and happiness.

Lady of the Lake

By Denis Toh (Date: 31st May 2005, Time: 1.57pm)

Lady of the lake

Oh sweet thou art

Perpetually virgin and chaste

Blessed art thou the beauty of most pure

Thou, crowned as the most magnificent.

Blessed art thou,

Who brings asylum from heaven

Into the midst of our rough earthliness;

Thy blossoms of heart,

Ever sweet-scented and fragrant

As thou glideth gracefully towards

Thy secret yet sacred site

Where thou and I

Vow our sweetest love

No kingdom could have crowned I

With more joy than thee by my side.

Sweet Dream

Written by Denis Toh (Date: 6th July 2004, Time: 4pm)

Oh my sweetheart, my love,

Was it a dream? A wonderful dream

That I was your heart’s only true love?

I remember it as a song gone quiet,

Like a distant echo in my heart.

Oh my sweetheart, my love,

I remember a rose you threw,

A glance so shy, yet tender;

I remember tears flow as we parted.

Was it all? Was it all a dream?

Oh my sweetheart, my love,

Our dream as brief as mellow

In spring time in green meadow,

Whose beauty soon withers away

Before the eyes of the rainbow.

Oh my darling, my cherished damsel,

But many nights I hear near yet distant voices

Through the flood of my bitter tears;

Hide this memory deep in your soul

It was your best dream!

Pilgrimage of Life

Written by Denis Toh (Date: Wed 9th March 2005, Time: 1.51am)

Evening draws closer as the sun has vanished

And the moon streams with silver rays

Therefore my days are numbered

My life withers in fairest hours

Soon the beauty of my life will disappear

And the curtain will roll down silently

For my play is finally over

I take my final bow and weep quietly

Shadows and darkness slowly devour me

As I plunge deeper in my slumber

I taste the sweetness of my love's tear

For this is the end of my life's pilgrimage

My beloved bestows her tear on me

And pluck me a violet for my grave

With her soulful gaze

She looks gently down on me

Shed a tear for me, my love

For each drop of your tears

Will be in my diadem

Ah, those lucid pearls.

If You Love

Written by Denis Toh (Date: 9-1-2004, Time: 5.30pm

If you love for beauty’s sake, do not love me,

Love the sun which is adorned with hairs of gold!

If you love for youth’s sake, do not love me,

Love the spring which is young every year!

If you love for treasure’s sake, do not love me,

Love the mermaid who owns many lucid pearls!

If you love for love’s sake, yes, then love me,

Love me always, as I love you always forever!

Lament of a Wayfarer

Written by Denis Toh (Date: 8th December 2004, Time: 11.38pm)

As I walk alone this land of broken dreams,

I have foreseen many visions.

But my happiness is just an illusion and imagination,

Nothing but filled with disappointment and confusion.

I know I must escape from this endless cycle of torment

Only my love can help me to stop it.

But my love is nowhere to be seen

Forever I am trapped in the land of god-forsaken.

I often wonder what becomes of me - broken hearted

Who have nothing but love that’s now vanished.

But I believe I have to search and find

Some kind of peace of mind.

Art of Poetry

To all my friends & 'fans' out there,

Thanks for your continuous encouragement, support and love! I wouldn't have gone this far without you all, especially Mr. & Mrs. Floyd (my British 'parents' who are now in England), Felicia, Fiza, Marinette, Dr. Newton, Joanna, Siti Sarah, Sharon, Dr. van Goethe and few others. I'm not pretty sure whether I'll be an established poet in the future but I'm willing to give a shot! Well, for your information, some of my poems are officially published in USA (It doesn't really matter at all). In this blog, I'll publish my poems, well, not all, of course. Anyway I really appreciate feedback and comment so feel free to drop any of them here in this blog. So sit back and enjoy the work of an amateur poet.

(p/s: Initially reluctance persisted but Marinette encouraged me to join this blog! Thanks, Nette!)
