The Nightingale
Composed by Denis Toh (Date: 20th August 2005, Time: 9.06pm)
Staring at the watch - bleeping!
It's twelve o'clock.
I walk along the street
With all the old nocturnal smell
In a tiny moment of the night
When the moon illuminates gently on the street.
The street-lamps warmly glow the ashen light
As I pass by - unsettling and troubling!
Winds lamenting melancholy
Haunting every corner of the street
And drown me so pathetically!
Hesitated, pace increases rapidly -
Scurry towards the town square.
There a nightingale sings a silver song
Which sweeps me into tranquility
And tells me never fear
For she is always forever near,
Accompanying me till the kiss of dawn.
